Rates & Policy
Mode offers weekly lessons, both in-studio and online, in 25- and 55- minute increments.
Limited 55 minute bi-weekly lesson times are also available upon request, as well as in-home (teacher travels to the student's residence) weekly lessons, scheduled in 45- or 60- minute blocks.
Recently, we have adjusted our lesson fees to reflect our tier system. Mode teacher tiers are determined based on skill level with an instrument, in addition to teaching experience and their time at Mode. This system allows us to compensate teachers fairly and reward those who have committed to Mode long-term.
Tier 1, 2, and 3 teachers each have different lesson pricing, with Tier 1 representing our newest teachers and Tier 3 representing the teachers who have the most experience and have been with Mode the longest. Please see each teacher's tier listed at the end of their bio.

Cancellations/Make-ups
If you need to cancel a lesson for any reason it must be done as soon as there is a known conflict by emailing scheduling@modemusicstudios.com or calling the studio during open hours at (206) 659-4018. A group make-up class will be scheduled as soon as you choose a class and date and notify scheduling@modemusicstudios.com or the front desk. Refunds or credits are not given for lessons cancelled by a student.
Withdrawal/Termination
We require at least a month’s notice of plans to withdraw from lessons. Terminations with less than one month’s notice given will be charged four weeks of lessons from notification date. Withdrawal notification must be submitted to the office at scheduling@modemusicstudios.com.
Holidays/Closures
We are closed on Thanksgiving, December 24-25 for Christmas and 12/31-1/1 for New Year’s Eve and Day. We do have lessons on “bank holidays” including MLK Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
Summer Lessons
We do continue lessons throughout the summer!
If you’re taking the summer off, we require a minimum 4 week notice to withdraw from lessons by emailing scheduling@modemusicstudios.com (see our cancelation policy.)
We offer one optional lesson credit in July as well as one optional lesson credit in August for vacation time. We also offer a “summer hold” which guarantees your time slot will be held until you resume lessons for 50% of the regular cost.

Group Class Rates
Our group classes at Mode Music and Performing Arts are offered at a sliding scale. If you aren’t in a position to pay full price for classes at this time, just let us know in your registration form that you’ll need a full or partial scholarship.
Alternatively, if you’re comfortable enough financially to pay full price for group classes, your payment (and/or any donation you may want to include with it) could help pay for the classes of those who are unable to.
